QuickRTM

Friday, November 6th, 2009

qrtmI’ve posted in the past on how much I love Remember The Milk for managing my tasks. My first real use of Twitter was when I found out I could use it to update RTM from my mobile phone. However the twitter interface is a little cumbersome. All updates have to be prefixed with “d rtm today” or “tomorrow” or “wednesday”. I had set up text shortcuts but even that required a bunch of clicks through menus. Then it hit me; I’m a .net developer, my crappy phone runs Windows Mobile, why not try out writing mobile apps?

Enter quickrtm, my first attempt at mobile apps. The idea behind quickrtm is to make it as simple as possible to jot down a quick ToDo on my phone. Once the app is installed, click it to launch, enter your todo item and press the “Send” soft key. There’s an optional menu to select a day other than “Today”. You can also press the other soft key to get a list of your current todo items. The app uses the phone’s text messaging so there’s no need for a data plan. Simply follow the instructions on the Remember The Milk site to link it to your Twitter account.

Head over to the quickrtm project page, hosted on Google Code, to check it out.

Americone Dream

Friday, April 20th, 2007

americone2.jpgIt would seem that I spoke a bit too soon. While wandering through the local Wawa something told me to check the ice cream section. Sure enough, Americone Dream. I’m really not into gimmicks. Like buying ice cream just because it has the picture of a celebrity whose show I watch. I was genuinely excited about this ice cream. Albeit for the sole reason that someone once told me in passing that it tasted like a Choco Taco. I used to live for Choco Tacos, especially when they came from Taco Bell. Choco Tacos are hard to find these days, so I was pretty stoked about finding a reasonable facsimile. So I picked up the small 1 pint carton… for $4.29 this thing better deliver.

It’s a bit bland, but not bad. It’s just not close enough to the Choco Taco to impress me. The vanilla ice cream overwhelms the chocolate covered cone bits, which left me with the feeling that it’s missing something. As I recall, the Choco Taco had nuts on top; maybe that would be enough. With Colbert’s pic on the carton and a name like Americone Dream, that alone is enough to have a container around, if only just for show. The fact that it’s a solid flavor, without any gimmicky crap inside, makes it a worth throwing down the four bucks to give it a try.

Spaceship Warlock

Thursday, June 22nd, 2006

When I started reviewing old games, I decided that I would only cover games that were delivered on floppy disk. Just this one time I had to break that rule. Spaceship Warlock was an interactive movie from the 90s which added a touch of innovation to a tired banal genre. Despite the genre’s great stigma, I don’t hide the fact that I love interactive movies. I recently got the bug the play Spaceship Warlock again; so I dusted off the CD, and my LCII, and decided to write a review.

Tired of receiving unsolicited credit card offers in the mail? Did you know you can use postage paid envelopes to mail up to 70 lbs of household junk back to the sender? Attach their postage paid envelope to a brick (or similar heavy object) and mail their junk back to them at their expense.
